I'm 34 weeks pregnant and am measureing 38cm when they did the fundo-symphysis measurement. I have to have a scan. What are the reasons for this?

The symphysis-fundal height (SFH) measurement after 24 weeks should roughly correlate in centimetres with the number of weeks pregnant you are, +/-2 cm. So if you measure 38 cm at 34 weeks, a scan will show if baby is large or whether there is extra amniotic fluid. It is of course perfectly possible that baby is a completely normal size, as the SFH measurement is not very accurate.
