I seem to have tummy cramps; what causes this?

It can be due to several things, digestional discomfort being the most likely. It may also be that what you describe as cramp are the first large movements of your baby. It could also be your own abdominal muscles stretching to accommodate the pregnancy. In trying to describe them you will compare them to something familiar, hence your comparison to cramp. All of these are normal and very common in pregnancy. However, sensations that you experience which become, and stay painful need to be checked out,especially if you experience vaginal bleeding with the pain or the cramps start coming regularly.
