I have sugar in my urine, why?

It is common to have sugar in your urine (glycosuria) in pregnancy because the kidney lets more sugar escape through from the blood into your urine: this is normal. This adjustment takes place in the second trimester but it may be that it occurs again; it is likely to happen after a big meal or sweet drink. Your urine will be checked at each antenatal visit as it may warrant a blood test if it does not settle, but it is only rarely that sugar in your usine signals diabetes.
