Where does all the extra blood go?

If the amount of blood pumped around your body by the heart increases, and the amount of blood circulating increases, then all this blood has to go somewhere. In fact, the most dramatic increase in blood flow is that going to your womb, the placenta and baby. The blood flow to your womb may increase by up to ten fold; there is also an increased flow of blood to your kidneys, skin, heart and lungs.
