This depends on whether you are having your baby in a hi-tech hospital, or have elected to go to a midwifery led birthing unit. Most women give birth in a maternity hospital, however, and room sizes vary. But there are certain pieces of equipment common to all rooms: an adjustable bed, sink, comfortable chairs, possibly an en-suite toilet, low level and ceiling lights, muliple electricity points, piped oxygen, a delivery pack, heart rate trace monitor for baby and often a 'resuscitaire'-where baby is placed and warmed, and sometimes given some helping oxygen after being born.
