At my scan there wasn't any fluid in baby's stomach. I went back 20 mins later and still no fluid. What does this mean?

Baby is swallowing amniotic fluid continuously, and baby's stomach empties every few minutes. So it's possible that baby's stomach is filling and emptying normally but the sonographer has just not seen it, which is why another scan is normally booked. Rarely, there can be a blockage of the baby's gullet (oesophageal atresia) or other swallowing problem that means the stomach can't fill properly.
