What are the possible birth defects the baby can have if I smoke marijuana?

Marijuana (cannabis) is not known to be harmful in pregnancy. That does not mean it is safe-and there is increasing evidence coming to light now about the link between cannabis and psychotic illnesses in adults, so its effect on the baby's developing central nervous system is speculative. There are definite risks to baby of smoking which include preterm delivery, fetal growth restriction, placental abruption and pre-eclampsia.
