I am 12 weeks pregnant and my first appointment at the hospital is not until nearly 20 weeks. Is this too late?

That all depends on you, and the local services depending on where you live. In the UK, if it's your first pregnancy and you are considered low risk, or you've had a baby or babies before without complications and are medically well, you may not see an obstetrician at all. Your midwife and family doctor will take on your care instead. If you're concerned-you can always ask to see an obstetrician sooner. In European countries, North and South America, Australasia and the Far East you would almost invariaby see an obstetrician early in the first trimester and they would take on your care.
